Rabbit, Run and Basketball Lit

Is there any good writing about basketball out there? Perhaps. I just picked up "Rabbit, Run" by John Updike, who died yesterday. I've read bits and pieces of Updike in the New Yorker, but didn't know that his most enduring protagonist, Rabbit Angstrom, was an ex-basketball player.

Updike's description of a shot that hits nothing but net: "It drops into the circle of the rim, whipping the net with a ladylike whisper." What a pleasure, to read good writing about basketball.
